Stand Up Paddleboard (or SUP for short) is the fastest growing water phenomenon in the world. At Dorval Pine beach is the perfect body of water to learn this growing sport in a safe and secure environment. Its calm waters and slow current make it perfect for a persons first initiation in to this wonderful sport.
During your lesson, you will learn the basics of balancing and maneuvering on your board. Students also learn how to properly maintain there equipment, as well as all of the safety procedures necessary. The only prerequisite is the ability to swim comfortably.
What you need too know!
Our courses last an average of 1h30 and includes approximately 20min of theory.
We provide all of the equipment necessary: board, paddle and life-jacket.
We are happy to take pictures of you and your friends/family during the course, if the conditions permit.
Reservations are done online and payment is accepted on the website.
If we are forced to cancel, dew to bad weather we will provide you with another lesson at the first convenient availability.
Progression of Course
Meet your instructor of the days course
Theory and security (10min)
Paddle on your knees and stomach.
How to stand on the board as well as how to fall in a secure fashion. We will also show you how to get back on the board after.
The basics of paddling in a strait line as well as how to turn.
Then a beautiful and relaxing paddle around the island.
Pivots and other advanced technics if you feel comfortable at this point.
What you will need
A water bottle
Sunscreen and other protective clothing (ex: hat, rash-guard, t-shirt, etc)
A bathing suit, if you are already wearing it; all the better.
Towel
If the weather is cooler, a wetsuit, long or short (if you have one). If not we rent them for 5$, payable before the course.
Water shoes, if you have them (optional).
